Clear what you can, ahead of time
For interior rooms, moving smaller furniture, décor and wall art out of the space (or at least away from walls) before painting day saves time that's otherwise spent working around obstacles. We're happy to move larger furniture and protect anything that stays in place, but anything you can clear yourself in advance keeps the job moving faster.
Take down wall-mounted items — art, mirrors, shelving — rather than leaving us to do it, since you'll know best how they're fixed and whether they need special handling.
Think about access and parking
For exterior work, having clear access to all sides of the house makes a real difference — moving cars off the driveway, trimming back plants that are pressed against walls, and letting us know about anything like a locked side gate or a dog that needs to be kept away from work areas. A quick heads-up here avoids delays on the day.
The jobs that run smoothest are almost always the ones where access and expectations were sorted out before day one.
Protect what matters to you personally
We use drop sheets and masking as standard on every job, but for anything irreplaceable or particularly precious — a family heirloom, a delicate plant, a piece you're worried about — it's worth handling that yourself or flagging it specifically so we can take extra care around it.
Plan around the household routine
If you have young children, pets, or anyone with respiratory sensitivities, let us know in advance — we can talk through low-odour paint options and plan the work sequence to minimise disruption to specific rooms when needed. Interior jobs are usually done room by room for exactly this reason, so the rest of the house stays liveable throughout.
What we take care of
Everything from masking and surface protection through to daily site clean-up is on us — you don't need to prep surfaces, tape edges, or manage the mess. The steps above are really just about making the handover as smooth as possible, so the days you've set aside for the project are used efficiently rather than lost to avoidable back-and-forth.
